Nell VanDyke Slone

Nell Grey VanDyke Slone, 92, of Statesville, died Monday, November 15, 2021, at her home.
Born in Grundy, Virginia on May 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William VanDyke and Eva Mae Davis VanDyke. Nell was also preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, James Ballard Slone and a son, Ronald Slone.
Nell loved her church and sharing her witness and testimony with others. She enjoyed cooking, singing, writing songs, poetry, and music. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Danny Slone (Shirley), Kenny Slone, Larry Slone (Becky), two daughters, Patty Walser (Larry), Brenda Carter (Steve), 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Gertrude Deskins.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Pearson and Chaplain Aaron Macemore. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorials Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service.
