Mrs. Myrtle Louise Galliher Anderson, 89, of Harmony, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Mrs. Anderson was born in Iredell County on May 22, 1927, and was the daughter of the late James Coleman and Flossie Claudine Stroud Galliher. She was a graduate of Harmony High School and on February 24,1945 married L.A. Anderson, Jr. who preceded her in death on June 20, 2012. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was the former church treasurer and served in that position for over 30 years. She had a passion for sewing, gardening and, along with her husband, researching and bringing to life their next wood craft project, many of which are cherished by family and friends. But nothing compared to the love she had for her family. She devoted a great deal of her life to caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was available to her family any time, day or night, if any one of them needed her tender, loving touch. This love for nurturing others extended well beyond her immediate family and was truly her greatest joy. In addition to her husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Dwight Galliher and five sisters, Dorothy Galliher, Geraldine Smith, Evelyn Fraley, Mary Stroud, and Peggy Willard. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Roy Anderson (Doris) of Mt. Gilead, NC and her daughter, Shirley Rufty (Donald) of Durham, NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kristie A. Henry (Chad) of Wilson, NC; Kimberly A. Baer (Brian) of Neenah, WI; Maggie H. Barry (Patrick) of Pinehurst, NC; and Joseph Anderson Rufty of Raleigh, NC. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Anderson Patrick Barry, William Anderson Baer, and Abigail Louise Baer; one brother, Ernest Galliher (Janice) of Harmony, NC; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services honoring the life of Louise Anderson will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Rock Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Lance officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will visit with friends following committal service.
