Mrs. Mildred Watts Smith, 90, of Troutman, passed away, Wednesday, December 07, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Smith was born September 9, 1926 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Roland and Mary Magdalene Rimmer Watts. She was a graduate of Celeste-Henklel Schools and was married to the late Bill Cloaninger Smith, who passed away in April 2012. She was a member of New Perth ARP Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Smith of Troutman, Bill Smith (Linda) of Statesville; two daughters, Sara S. Cardwell (Jim) of Troutman, Janet S. York of Troutman; 14 grandchildren, Ben Smith (Kim), Carolina Smith, Emily Cruz (Jonathan), Kristi Turner (Andrew), Hayley Propsner (Jesse), Allen Henderson (Lauren), Stephany Shayeghi (Neel), Thomas Henderson, Mike Cardwell, John Cardwell, Chris Cardwell, Mark Cardwell (Cheree), Brett Cardwell (Amanda), Brad Cardwell (Dawn); 16 great grandchildren, Kamryn and Malachi Smith, Lilee Travis, Cooper Turner, Nessa Moore, Ava, Farah and Maryam Shayeghi, Gracen, Garret and Gavin Cardwell, Reid, Grantt, Davis and Anna Elise Cardwell and Alec Cardwell. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Carrie Margaret Cardwell, one sister, Margaret Swanger and two brothers, Bill and Bob Watts. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will be held in the New Perth ARP Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Smith’s grandsons.
