Mike Tolbert

Michael Rex Tolbert, 54, of Cleveland, NC, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Tolbert was born in Iredell County on June 17, 1958 and was the son of the late Rex. J. Tolbert and Hazel J. Loftin Tolbert. He was a graduate of South Iredell High School and he also attended Mitchell Community College. On April 19, 1981 he married Catherine Gail Holden Tolbert who preceded him in death. Mr. Tolbert was employed with Performance Fibers and he was a member of Troutman Church of God. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, volunteered at the Yokefellow and he loved to do crossword puzzles. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Tolbert was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Casey Tolbert. Mr. Tolbert is survived by one son, Christopher M. Tolbert and wife Amanda of Claremont, NC, two grandsons, Blake and Josiah Tolbert and three sisters, Jane Gibson (John) of Cleveland, NC, Sue Whitley (Tony) of Asheboro, NC and Emily Gulledge (Lamar) of Locust Grove, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Tolbert will be conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Kautz officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
