Melvin Homer Troutman

July 11, 1931 — August 7, 2019

Mr. Melvin Homer Troutman, 87, of Statesville, died Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Whiteville, N.C. Born in Iredell County on July 11, 1931, he was a son of the late Baxter Troutman and Rachel Lippard Troutman. He was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church and retired from automotive sales. He enjoyed gardening, basketball and was very active at his church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Niblock Troutman.
Survivors include a son, Richard Troutman (Susan) and Myra Thompson (Michael) and four grandchildren: Elizabeth T. Kemper, Jonathan Michael Troutman, Erika Troutman and Ian Troutman along with one great grandchild: Evelyn Christine Kemper.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 12, 2019 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. David Turner officiating. The family will greet friends at the church for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
