Maxine (Potter) Holt

Maxine Potter Holt, 78, of Statesville, died at her home on Saturday, July 2, 2016.  She was born November 4, 1937 in Spartanburg, SC and was the daughter of the late Onzie G. and Mary Vassey Potter.    She graduated from Chesnee High School class of ’56 and on June 26, 1959, she married Bert Holt, who survives. She worked for Kohler Co. in Spartanburg as well as Davis Hospital in Statesville. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by a son, Brian K. Holt, and two brothers, William Elson and Grover Neal Potter, and sister, Colleen Newton. She is survived by her husband, Bert Holt; a son, Darrell N. Holt and wife Lisa of Statesville; daughter-in-law Terry H. Holt of Arden, NC; grandchildren, Justin and Amber Holt of Statesville; Daniel and Sarah Holt of Arden, NC; sisters, Ondean Vassy of Chesnee, SC, Dorine Wood (Larry) of Mayo, SC.  Also surviving are great-grandson Ryker Kinnley Holt and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service at First Presbyterian Church fellowship room.  Active pallbearers will be Justin and Daniel Holt, David Benbow, Rudy Davis, Donnie Haynes, and Bill Miller. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 125 N.
