Maxine Patterson Hager, 81, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born March 9, 1929 in Hiddenite, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William Allie Patterson and Lola Gwaltney Patterson. She was a graduate of Hiddenite High School and on March 6, 1954 was married to William Lafayette Hager, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hager was retired from Jantzen Sweater Company where she worked as a cutter in the cutting room. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and also a member of the Stony Point Eastern Star Chapter 58. Mrs. Hager is survived by two daughters, Debra Hager Culler (Bob) of Overland Park, KS, and Pamela Hager Hawks (Kerry) of Winston Salem, N.C.; four granddaughters, Lindsay Culler of Fairway, KS, Ashley Culler of Overland Park, KS, Casey Hawks Cote` (David) of Hampton, VA, and Wendy Hawks; three sisters, Phyllis Childers of Kannapolis, N.C., Shirley Bunton (Leonard) of Statesville, and Winnie Brawley of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Dillon Patterson (Lucy) of Taylorsville, N.C., and Millard "Buddy" Patterson (Jenny) of Hiddenite, N.C.; two sister-in-laws, Rachel Little and Sarah Chiusano, both of Statesville. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hager was also preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Lee "Mickey" Wiles and three brothers, Donald Patterson, William Allie "Pat" Patterson, Jr., and Willie Eugene "Bill" Patterson. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Cook and Dr. Allen Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
