Matthew Scott Bailey, 14, of Troutman, N.C., passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Levine’s Children’s Hospital after a year-long battle with brain cancer. Matthew was born December 6, 2000 in Beckley, West Virginia. He was a son of Don Bailey, Jr. and Renee Wilson Bailey, both of whom survive. Matthew was President of the Northview IB 8th grade class, a member of Watermark Church, point guard for the Troutman Middle School basketball team, forward for the Carolina Flight AAU basketball team, quarterback for the 2013 county champion Troutman Middle School football team and a long time ball boy for the South Iredell Vikings. Matthew was preceded in death by his grammy, Carol Sue Bailey. He is survived by his brother, Nicholas Bailey , his grandfather, Donald Gene Bailey of Bolt, W. Va. and his grandparents, Glen and Mable Wilson of Mullins, W. Va. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Troutman Middle School with Rev. Joel Settle officiating. The family will speak with friends following the service.
