Mary Ruth (York) Cass

Mary Ruth York Cass, 90, of Union Grove, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Randolph House in Asheboro, N.C. Born in Iredell County on May 30, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John T. York and Lela Tutterow York. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Horace R. Cass, a daughter, Corinne Cass Rash, brothers, Burette, Coyte, Rex, Roy, Dwight, and Howard York and sisters, Velma Tulbert and Lois Blankenship. Survivors include sons, Charles Cass of Union Grove, Don Cass (Barbara) of Mt. Ulla, Roger Cass(Tammy) of Sophia, N.C., and Brent Cass (Heather) of Union Grove. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Tomlin officiating. She will lie in state and the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
