Mary Safriet Hayes

Mary Catherine Safriet Hayes, 94, of Statesville NC, was welcomed into her heavenly home by her savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021. She was born on July 18, 1927, to the late James Martin Safriet and Lizzie Seamon Safriet.
Mrs. Hayes worked for Southern Bell and later retired from Uniglass Industries in 1991. She was a lifetime member of the Grand Chapter of North Carolina order of the Eastern Star chapter No 214 as well as the National Federation of Business and Professional Womens Clubs.
She enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Kent Hayes (married Aug of 1948), sisters Laura Kimmel and Lois Harris and brother Howard Safriet.
She is survived by her children Charles (Chuck) R Hayes (Nancy) of Calabash, NC, and Dawn P Hayes of Statesville NC. Grandchildren Joleen R Sadowski (Aaron) and Joey L Renegar Jr (Lori) of Statesville NC. Great grandchildren Lauren N Sadowski (Zack Tellier), Samantha S Vogel (Chad), Erin M Sadowski, Cayden L Renegar and Jase M Renegar of Statesville NC and several furry four-legged family members.
She was loved greatly and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday December 7th at 11am in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel in Statesville NC with private burial immediately following. The service will be live streamed beginning promptly at 11:00 (link will be at bottom of obituary on Nicholson Funeral Homes website) for anyone unable to attend.
Mary loved flowers and they are welcomed in her memory. Memorials can be made to local animal shelters or rescues, the North Carolina home for children in Oxford, NC, or a charity of your choice.
