Mary Elizabeth Harper Galliher, our gift from God and beloved wife, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2016. A Godly wife for over 40 years, mother of 5 and grandmother of 8, she is survived by her husband, Gilbert Randall (Randy) Galliher and they were blessed to share their lives together. God is good !
Mary was a daughter of the late James Leon Harper and Geraldine Elizabeth Fleming Harper. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lewis Gilbert Galliher.
Mary was a member of South River Baptist Church and formerly attended Calvary Community Church. She was born in Statesville where she attended Cool Springs School and then North Iredell High School where she graduated in 1972. She also attended Bob Jones University. Mary loved her family, her homeplace, gardening and cooking.She also enjoyed reading and bird watching. Mary was a Godly wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors in addition to her husband, include a son, Randall Matthew Galliher of Statesville, daughters: MaeDawn Hope Billings (Nathan), of Elkin, Heather Faith Galliher of Statesville, Rebecca Charity Galliher of Kingsport, Tenn., and Erica Denise James of Kernersville. Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Dorothy Galliher of Statesville, a brother, Joe Harper (Christine) of Roaring River, N.C. and a sister, Cleo Martin (Arnold) of Statesville. Additional survivors include grandchildren: Dreelynn, Dovah, Austin, Aaron, Adam, Savannah, Bryce and Jesse. Other survivors include two sisters-in-law, Ann Gettys (Gary) and Kathy Johnson (Randy), along with several nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Mary’s life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2016 at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Thompson officiating. She will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and following the service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church followed by a private burial.
