Mary “Molly” Frances Black, 64, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born on September 28, 1952 in Columbus, Miss. to the late Thomas Moody Black and Ruby Fann Bass. Molly was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was of the Baptist faith. She was self-employed most of her career which included restaurant owner, store owner, cleaning company, and rental property. She was very active in the Republican Party and was a member of Freedomworks. Molly, Linda, and Hal travelled extensively throughout the Southeast to champion the causes of Freedomworks. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. Molly was a loving mother and grandmother who appreciated life and lived it to the fullest. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Roger Dale Jones and Jonathan Scott Davis; a sister, Linda Jolly (Hal); a brother, John Black; and grandchildren, Sierra Kay Daniels, Logan Jacob Jones, Mackenzie Davis, and Kristin Davis. A Gathering of Friends will be held Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
