Mary Jane (Bowen) Howse

Mary Jane Bowen Howse, 78, of Statesville, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Howse was born in Haywood County on August 31, 1939 and was the daughter of the late William Merrit Bowen and Kate McClure Bowen.  She attended Haywood County schools and was married to Arthur Davidson Howse, who preceded her in death in 1991. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Shannon Ingram, two sisters, Dorothy LaForce, and Mary Lee Englebert, and one brother, Frank “Buddy” Bowen. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, David Howse of Statesville and Robert Howse (Wendy) of Hiddenite and two daughters, Diana Brown (Charlie) and Lora Waters, both of Statesville.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Shane Brown (Melanie), Kimberly Howse, Natasha Brown, Chasity Duty (Steve), Desiree Brown (Clifton), Shalana Landreth (Jason), Crystal Howse (Jonathan), Alisha Howse, Ryan McCrary, Katie Howse, Austin Howse, Logan Howse, Mason Howse, and Evan Howse, along with 20 great-grandchildren.
