Mary Frances Garner Benton

Mary Frances Garner Benton, age 80, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Born on August 27, 1941, in Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Colon Garner, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Mills Garner.
Mrs. Benton along with her late husband, Grover Carldon Benton were co-founders of Prayer, Praise and Worship Church; she served as their Overseer. She loved to fish and had a passion for cooking. Mrs. Benton enjoyed feeding the homeless and the less fortunate and one could say she had a warm and giving heart who loved everyone.
In addition to her parents, Walter, Sr. and Dorothy Garner, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Grover Carldon Benton; her son, Wesley Benton; her sister, Rebecca Butler; and her brother, Walter Colon Garner, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cheryl (Lane) Lewter, Jeffrey (Shirley) Grubb, Paula (Richard) Absher, David Michael Benton, Donna (James) Lowe, Gregory (Angel) Benton, Alice Cheryl (Tanveer) Iqbal, and Dawn (Thomas) Poole; 31 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Sheila Ellington; daughter-in-law, Katherine Benton; and brother-in-law, Butch Butler.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Prayer, Praise and Worship Church, 707 Stemp Everhart Rd., Thomasville with Interim Pastor Aaron Collins officiating.
