Mr. Marvin Paul Gryder, 79, of Statesville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2020 with his wife and sons by his side.
Born January 17, 1941 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late McCurtis and Mary Belle Steele Gryder. Marvin was a former member of Faith Baptist Church and was attending Union Grove United Methodist Church.
He was a retired truck driver with Tyson Foods for 30 plus years. He worked at Kewaunee Furniture for 13 years.
Marvin was an avid fisherman, loved cat fishing, water skiing and water sports and spending time with his family. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Harvey (Mabel) Gryder and Herman Gryder, brother-in-law Junior Joyner, and sister-in-law Linda Gryder.
Left to cherish his loving memory is wife of 33 years Irene Jarvis Gryder, two sons, Mike Gryder (Sheila) and Paul Gryder (Cindy), step-son John Burton, seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brother Fred Gryder, sister Virginia Joyner and many other loving family members.
A service to celebrate the life of Marvin Gryder will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Union Grove UMC with Pastor Neill Shaw officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
