Martha (Lippard) Williams

Martha Lippard Williams, 87, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, August 09, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House.  She was born in Iredell County on June 1, 1929 to the late John Hobbs Lippard and Estelle Robins Lippard. Mrs. Williams attended Troutman City Schools and was married to Clyde M. Williams on June of 1951.  They enjoyed over 48 years of marriage before his passing in 1999.  After attending Troutman Schools, she worked at Troutman’s Café with sisters and friends thus starting what became a life-long career in food service management with the Iredell/Statesville Schools.  She retired after 25 years of service to them.  Martha was a lifetime member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School to kindergarten children.  She had a great love for the little children and was very active in the management of the church kitchen for many years.  As a devoted Christian, she also attended the Horizon Church, pastored by her son Charles, and was also baptized there which she was very proud that she was baptized as a Methodist and as a Baptist. Along with her parents and husband, Clyde, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Sherrill and Jo Ann Downer; and four brothers, Kenneth, Jack, Gene, and Sonny Lippard Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Marc Williams of Greensboro, John Williams (Julie), and Charles Williams ( Becky); one daughter, Marsha Bumgarner (Gary), all of Statesville, grandchildren, Lauren and husband James,  Daune, Crystal and husband Robbie, Jonathon and wife, Sarah, and Megan; great grandchildren, Luke, Alexis, SaraBeth, Samantha, Bradley, Justin, Grace, Emily, Jasper, and Tyler; great great grandchildren, Lilly and Jack; brother, Danny Lippard; three sisters, Velma Kelly, Vivian Eades, and Betty Holdsclaw; and many loving nieces and nephews. As a mother, she loved all her family very deeply and was always there for them all.  “We will miss our Mother of five generations and she will always be loved in our hearts, until we meet again in Heaven, Love you Mom”. Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2016 at Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Thompson and Rev. Charles Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Steve Crouch, Victor Crouch, Chris Crouch, Barry Lippard, Stanley Lippard, and John Lippard.  The family will visit with friends Thursday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Horizon Church, 316 Signal Hill Drive, Statesville, NC 28677, or to Christ Boulevard UMC, 1947 E. Broad Street, Statesville, NC 28625. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the Gordon Hospice House and to the entire healthcare staff at Iredell Health System for the care, love and compassion to their mother.
