Marjorie Lee (Madden) Poteat

Marjorie Lee Madden Poteat, 82, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House.  She was born in Iredell County on June 19, 1933 to the late Oscar Lee and Myrtle Allen Madden. Mrs. Poteat was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and was a homemaker.  She was married to Grady Poteat, who preceded her in death on January 3, 2000.  Margie was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church and was a very active member until her health declined.  She was a loving wife, mother, and sister. Along with her parents and husband, Grady, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Madden. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carla P. Johnson (Scott Heintz), a sister, Shirley Hobbs, and a nephew, James Madden. Funeral services for Mrs. Poteat will be held 3:00 pm Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow at the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 pm.
