Marie Mayberry Watt, 88, of Statesville, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House.
She was born in Iredell County to the late Arthur J. Mayberry and Esther Anderson Mayberry. She was also preceded in death by her husband; David M. Watt, a grandson; Chad Watt, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Marie attended Central School and had worked for Prime Time at East Iredell Elementary School from 1981 to 2005. She loved her children and grandchildren and considered the Prime Time kids as her own. If you ever went to her house, she made sure you didn’t leave hungry.
Mrs. Watt is survived by a daughter; Cindy Webster (John), a son; Gary Watt (Carol), 3 grandsons; Adam Watt, Michael Hines, Steven Hines, 4 great-grandchildren; Sadie, Isaac, Liam and Levi, a brother; Lonnie Mayberry and a sister; Helen Hicks of Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Wease officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends and family from 12:30 to 2:00 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.nicholsonfuneralhome.com . Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the Watt family.
