Margaret Pauline Caudell Weber, 90, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Feb. 13, 2011 at Sunrise Chandler Senior Living in Chandler, AZ, where she lived for the last 22 months of her life. She was the daughter of the late Walter Ray Caudell and Lucille Gourley Caudell. On April 5, 1941, she was married to the late James King Weber in Charlotte, NC. She was a wife, mother, musician, teacher, writer and poet. She graduated from Harding High School as Valedictorian, attended Queens College in Charlotte and also Women's College in Greensboro, now UNCG. Margaret always had a great interest in children and children's education. She began teaching kindergarten with her mother while growing up in Charlotte. She continued kindergarten teaching throughout much of her adult life. She was a prolific writer of poems, short stories, children's stories, having been published in several magazines, including Guideposts, where her story was featured on the cover. After moving to Arizona in 1999 to be near her son, David, she continued her creative writing, creating poems, short stories and essays. She published her book of poems, "People Poems" and in 2007 Margaret was awarded 3 Prize in the Articles/Essays division for "Lockjaw", and 2 Prize for "How Poems are Made" in the poetry division, of the Arizona Authors Association's Literary Contest. Mrs. Weber is survived by two sons, James K. Weber, Jr. (Ami) in Granville, MA, David Benjamin Weber (Vendla) of Queen Creek, AZ, two grandchildren, James King Weber, III (Michelle), George Harris Weber (Filumena), two great grandchildren, Hailey and Brianna Weber and one sister, Iris Caudell Goins, one nephew, Bart Quisenberry (Mari-Lynn) and two great nieces, Rachel and Alyse Quisenberry. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Snow Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Brashear and Rev. Charles Norville officiating. Nicholson Funeral Home of Statesville is serving the family of Margaret Weber.
