Mrs. Margaret Evelyn Niblock Troutman, 80, of Statesville, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Troutman was born in Rowan County on December 9, 1936, and was the daughter of the late George Lee Niblock and Blanche Perry Niblock. She was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and Davis School of Nursing. She was married for 60 years to Melvin Homer Troutman, who survives. She was a retired registered nurse and worked in the operating room at Davis Hospital for over 20 years. Mrs. Troutman was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church. Her church was very special to her. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, photography, birds, nature, and reading. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Niblock Slough and Erma Niblock Feimster. Along with her husband, Melvin Homer Troutman, she is survived by one son, Richard D. Troutman (Susan) of Hickory, and one daughter, Myra Troutman Thompson (Michael) of Little River, SC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Elizabeth Troutman Kemper (Michael), Jonathan Michael Troutman, both of Charlotte, Erika Adonika Troutman of Palo Alto, CA, and Ian Alexander Troutman of Lynchburg, VA. She is further survived by a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Christine Kemper. Funeral services for Evelyn Troutman will be conducted at 2:30 PM Monday, October 16, 2017, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Shuler and Rev. David Turner officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at the church. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens.
