Margaret Lucille Brewer Beard, 93, completed her journey HOME on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
Mrs. Beard was born in Iredell County on June 26, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Orlando Roy “Arlie” Brewer and Mary Ellen Bailey Brewer.
She was employed for 42 years and retired from J.C. Penney Distribution Center as the supervisor of the Detail Department. Mrs. Beard was a lifelong member of Western Avenue Baptist Church. Upon trusting Jesus as her personal Savior, she was baptized into the fellowship on December 25, 1932. Mrs. Beard was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class at Western Avenue Baptist Church.
On September 16, 1967 she married Harry J. Beard, and together they shared 51 years of marriage until her passing.
Along with her husband, Harry, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Beard Cooper of Greenville, NC; grandson, Jefferson Cooper of Charlotte, NC and granddaughter, Bailey Cooper of Greenville, NC. She is also survived by her sisters and brother: Jean B. Templeton, William P. “Bill” Brewer (Sandy), both of Statesville and Rosemary B. Ramsey (Ed) of Atlanta, GA. She is further survived by a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda B. Smith, a brother, Roy M. Brewer, a son-in-law, Nelson L. Cooper, nephews, Gerald “Jerry” Smith and Larry A. Smith. She was further preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Foy L. Templeton and a sister-in-law, Helen B. Brewer.
Funeral services honoring the life of Margaret B. Beard will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 2nd at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Spry officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.
