Marceline Echerd Duncan

January 27, 1930 — January 22, 2020

Marceline Echerd Duncan 90, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Gordon Hospice House with her children by her side. She was born in Iredell County on January 27, 1930 to the late John Walter Echerd and Mamie Smith Echerd.
Marceline graduated from Scotts High School. She married D. L. Duncan in 1951. They remained married for 22 years. She was a dear and caring friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a past Treasurer and also enjoyed volunteering in the office. She loved fishing, boating, and spending time on the lake or at the coast. But mostly she loved being a stay at home mom to her two children.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, John Walter (J. W.) Echerd and sister-in-law Joan McRae Echerd.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joe Duncan of Statesville, daughter Karla Duncan Cass (Tommy) of Harmony, along with several nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the residence of Ms. Duncan on Saturday January 25, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
