Mable Ruth Thomason

September 26, 1930 — March 10, 2021

Mable Ruth Thomason died at home at the age of 90 on March 10, 2021 . One of seven children of Will Gaither and Zula Everhart Thomason, she was predeceased by her brothers, Willie, Charlie, and David Thomason, and her sisters Lula Mae Thomason Decker and Ida Thomason Younts, and is survived by one sister, Reba Thomason Berrier, and her sister-in-law Shirley Thomason, a dozen nieces and nephews as well as numerous grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Although she never had any children of her own, she had an especially close relationship with her brother David's, three boys, Davy Thomason (Melissa), Mike Thomason (Sherlyn), and Mark Thomason (Tammy) and their daughters, Ginger, Casey and Trinity, all of Lexington. For many years, she was the matriarch of the Thomason family and hosted family reunions in September at the family home place. She was an active and lifelong member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Mable was defined by her work ethic. All her life up until her fatal illness, she was a farmer, and was happiest when she was working in the garden. Her grape leaf pickles, pickled peppers, and dilly beans were famous among family and friends as were the paper thin sugar cookies she rolled by hand and distributed as presents. Mable was a hard-working, tough minded woman who loved her family fiercely. If Heaven has a garden, Mable is already helping with spring planting. May she Rest in Peace. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church 835 Ridge Road, Lexington, NC 27295. or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
