Mrs. Mabel Teague Pritchard, 89, of Stony Point, N. C. passed away Monday evening, July 22, 2013, at Iredell Memorial Hospital after a long period of declining health. Mrs. Pritchard was born on July 25, 1923 in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Herbert Teague and Laura Jane Little Teague. She was a graduate of Taylorsville High School. On September 4, 1943 she married Dare Pritchard, who preceded her in death on September 3, 1992. Mrs. Pritchard was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church where she held various positions. For many years she was active in the Scotts School PTA and Scotts Home Demonstration Club and was also a member of VFW Post 2031 Women's Auxiliary. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother who made her family the center of her life. She especially enjoyed cooking, working in her garden and traveling with her husband. Mrs. Pritchard was a retired bank teller with BB&T. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth P. Deal (Bob) of Statesville and Linda P. Godfrey of Vale, NC along with one son, Kenneth G. Pritchard (Leslie) of Statesville; five grandchildren, Bobby Deal of Cedar Rapids, IA, Susan D. Bruntmyer (Scott) of Indian Land, SC, John D. Pritchard (Kelli) of Asheville, Chris Godfrey and Andy Godfrey, both of Vale, NC. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Evander K. Pritchard, Tyler Jackson, Austin Godfrey, and Andrea Godfrey along with a brother, Hal Teague (Bonnie) and a sister-in-law, Mary (Claude) Teague. Along with her husband, Dare Pritchard, and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary T. Thomas, and Evelyn T. Johnson, and two brothers, Claude Teague and Wade Teague, and a son-in-law, Linda's husband, Larry Godfrey. Funeral services for Mrs. Pritchard will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Liberty UMC with Rev. Leo Fair and Rev. Bob Herron officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Deal, John Pritchard, Chris, Andy and Austin Godfrey, and Barry Lackey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Liberty UMC, 1300 Liberty Church Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to all of Mrs. Pritchard's caregivers with particular appreciation to her longterm caregivers, Sherrie Haithcox, Debbie Hefner, Blanche Jolly, and June Cash.
