Mabel Irene Johnson Holleman, 81, of Statesville, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Holleman was born Aug. 4, 1930 in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Smith Parks Johnson and Stella Johnson Johnson. She attended Wilkes County Schools and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. On Dec. 23, 1949, she was married to the late Johnnie Henry Holleman, who passed away April 13, 2002 and in 1998 she was retired from Carolina Mills after 41 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Hillary Johnson, George Dallas Johnson, William Harrison Johnson and five sisters, Emily McHurge, Dora Martin, Fannie Roupe, Carolyn Sheets and Rebecca Dickens. Mrs. Holleman is survived by three daughters, Dolene H. Bobbitt (James) of Cool Springs, Barbara Ann H. Gaither (Louie) of Statesville, Georgia Gail H. Hart (Steve) of Florida, three grandchildren, Brian Gaither (Traci), Brandy Bobbitt Teague (Josh), Justin Bobbitt (Amanda); three great grandchildren, Kyle Gaither, Cade Gaither and Cowan Bobbit; one brother, Charlie R. Johnson of Mooresville and four sisters, Hester Warren of N. Wilkesboro, Lucille Rhodes of Rock Creek, Annie Johnson of Hunting Creek and Ruth McHurge of Hunting Creek. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
