Mabel Brown Gryder

Mabel Coleen Brown Gryder, 89, of Statesville, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
She was born on March 10, 1930 to the late James Brown and Rose Huie Brown. Mabel was also preceded in death by her husband, James Harvey Gryder, and 2 brothers; Charles Brown and Rev. Bobby Brown.
Mabel attended Union Grove School and Mitchell Community College. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and attended Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was retired from Rosewood Nursing Home as a Medical Tech Mabel loved her animals and working in her yard and flowers. She especially loved her family. Even through the difficulties of her dementia, she never lost her sense of joy.
Survivors include 2 sons; Jim Gryder (Nellie) of Mocksville, Danny Gryder (Tyra) of Lexington, a daughter; Linda Gryder Johnson (Roger), a sister; Mona B. Shaver of Union Grove, George Huie Brown (Nancy) of Union Grove, a sister-in-law; Arlene Brown of Harmony, 7 grandchildren; Christy G. Tyner (Tommy), Holly Rash (Chris), Rebekah G. Ranker (Peter), Karena J. Butler (Ron), Matt Gryder, Eric Gryder, Luke Gryder, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with family and friends from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service.
