Donavon Luke Hobbs, 24, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hobbs was born August 10, 1987 in Iredell County and was the son of Ricky Monroe Hobbs and Gail Morrison Hobbs. He was a graduate of North Iredell High School class of 2004. He was self employed as a construction contractor and was of the Methodist Faith. Luke love to fish, hunt and especially enjoyed watching Sunday evening football and he was an avid soccer player. Mr. Hobbs was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Buddy and Myrtle Hobbs and his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Bonnie Morrison along with an uncle, Mike Hollar and cousin Jason Hobbs. He is survived by his father, Ricky Monroe Hobbs (Joyce Earnhardt) and his mother, Gail Morrison Hobbs, both of Statesville. He is also survived by one brother, Justin Hobbs (Kim) and their children, Haylee Goodnow, Jaycee Hobbs and Corbin Hobbs, all of Wilkesboro. He is further survived by two aunts, Debbie Hollar of Statesville and Debbie Hobbs of Mocksville; one uncle, Randy Gobble of Mocksville and a cousin, Christy Mason (Darron) of Statesville. A special friend, Sabrina, also survives. Funeral services for Mr. Hobbs will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, July 30, 2012 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Eric Morphis officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to all of the friends and family that stopped by the hospital and homes to share stories and memories of Luke. They would also like to thank the ICU staff at Iredell Memorial Hospital for their loving care of Luke and both emotional and physical support offered to the family during this difficult time.
