Louise Simpson Carter

January 9, 1925 — April 21, 2015

Mrs. Louise Simpson Carter, 90, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Maple Leaf Health Care Center. Mrs. Carter was born in Stokes County, NC on January 9, 1925 and was the daughter of the late O.O. Simpson and Nancy Justice Simpson.  She was a graduate of Pine Hall High School and she was married to Willis Elwood Carter, who preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Wild Goose Patch Work Club as well as a dedicated volunteer for over 25 years at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Simpson. Mrs. Carter is survived by two sons, Duane Simpson Carter (Janice Kerber) of Pittsboro, NC and Daryl Willis Carter (Beth) of Statesville.  She is also survived by one granddaughter, Nancy Carter along with three grandsons, David Carter, Robert Carter (Amy), and Tyler Carter (Sara).  She is further survived by a niece, Brenda Freeman (Bill) along with two great-grandchildren, Lily Carter and Levi Carter. Funeral services for Mrs. Carter will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, April 24, 2015, at New Salem UMC with Rev. David Gay and Rev. Rex Gibbs officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will visit with friends in the fellowship hall following the graveside service.
