Graveside services at Iredell Memorial Gardens will be held on Monday, August 8 , 2011 for Lloyd Gaylen Davis who died peacefully on August 6, 2011. He was born March 10, 1932 in Maple Fork, WV. In 1957 his mother and the younger children moved to Statesville, NC. Mr. Davis followed in a few years but always maintained ties to his family and friends in WV. He remained a mountain man who valued honesty, integrity and a hard day of work. He loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mr. Davis was a retired mechanic and auto body technician. He served in this capacity at several dealerships in the Piedmont and Triad areas. He loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR and traditional Country music, especially Bluegrass. Mr. Davis was married to the former Faye Eidson who preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mattie Davis; two brothers, Lotus B. Davis of Bradley, WV and Henry L. (Jim) Davis of Silver Springs, MD. Mr. Davis is survived by a brother, Lowell B. Davis, Kingsville, OH; four sisters, Leah F. Briggs, Winona, WV; Jane L. Treadway, Maple Fork, WV; Lena B. Horton and Lucy M. Martin of Statesville, NC and Dale Catlett (a special nephew) of Maple Fork, WV and numerous other nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by a step-son, Ray (Donna) Shoaf of Statesville with whom he made his home; two step-daughters Gail (Gene) Pressley of Southmont, NC and Kathy Gibson of Lexington, NC; 9 grand-children Randy and Danny Pressley; Eddie and Kelly Martin, Tresa Shaw, Vernie Shoaf, Kristi Byers, Dawn LeFaivre and Scott Rumple; 18 great grand-children and two great, great grand-children. The family would like to thank the staff of The Brian Center, Hospice of Iredell County, Dr. James S. Foushee and special caregivers, Jean Hamm, Shelley Armstrong and Brandon Byers for their loving kindness and caring throughout Mr. Davis' illness. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Davis.
