Lindsey Albert Summers, 62, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Iredell County on August 14, 1953 to the late Rome and Edna Johnson Summers. Lindsey was a graduate of North Iredell High School and served his country honorably in the U. S. Air Force. He was married to Cynthia Harris Summers on April 8, 1978 and they shared almost 38 years of marriage before his passing. Lindsey was retired from Energy United as a lineman after 23 years of service. He was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church where he had served as member of the choir, Sunday school teacher, and past Superintendent of Sunday school. He was also a Board Member of Robert Harris Ministries. Lindsey was an avid Bible reader, gardener, bee keeper, and a big baseball fan. He was a loving husband, father, and a good friend to many. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Kara S. Steele (Adam); a son, Garrett Summers; a granddaughter, Baylee Steele; a grandson Bryson Steele; a sister, Ginger Davidson (Ross); his extended family; and many friends. Funeral services for Mr. Summers will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Mountain View United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Harrill officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, Parkinsons Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York NY 10018, or to Mountain View UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Judy Miller, 121 Miller Cove Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
