Linda Hopkins Young

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda Hopkins Young, who departed this life on January 11, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Tazewell County, Virginia, on October 20, 1944, Linda was a cherished member of her community and family.

Linda dedicated much of her life to hard work and service. She spent her career as a textile worker, contributing to an industry that supported many families in the region. Beyond her professional life, she had a profound passion for flowers and gardening. With her renowned green thumb, she took pride in having the best yard in the neighborhood, tending to her flower beds with love and care.

A devout member of Clearview Baptist Church, Linda was deeply involved in church activities and did everything she could to support its mission. Her commitment to service extended into the community, where she volunteered at the Greater Rich Food Pantry in Welcome, North Carolina, twice a week. Her dedication to helping others was a testament to her compassionate nature and generous spirit.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Arthur Hash and Daisy Sawyers, her husband, Jerry Hopkins, her son Danny Hopkins, Grandson Cody Hopkins, as well as several brothers and sisters. Her memory will be cherished by her surviving family: her granddaughter, Jessica Blackburn (Paul Jr.), and her grandson, Jerry Hopkins (Kristen Blackley). She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Kayden Hopkins, Evalynn Blackburn, and Ariel Blackburn, who will carry forth her legacy of love and kindness.

As per her wishes, no services will be held at this time. While Linda may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. In lieu of formal gatherings, the family invites those who wish to honor Linda's memory to spend a moment in their own gardens, surrounded by the beauty of nature that she so dearly cherished.
