Laverne Renner Templeton

Mr. Laverne R. Templeton, 82, of Statesville, died Friday, March 16, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born July 27, 1935 in Iredell County, he was a son of the late Ina Templeton and Nerren Templeton. Laverne grew up attending Union Grove United Methodist Church where he was a member.  He was a 1955 graduate of Union Grove High School. He was employed for 10 years and 5 months with Kewaunee Scientific Manufacturing and was owner and operator of Griffin Heating and Air Conditioning for 43 years. He retired December 29, 2007. Laverne enjoyed classic cars. He had a 1967 Mustang convertible and a 1969 Ford 100 Classic truck which he showed at car shows and won several trophies.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Templeton, a brother, William Templeton, a nephew, Anthony Templeton and two nieces, Amanda Fowler and Amelia Summers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Overcash and Rev. Sam Crow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
