Larry Lloyd Trivette, 71, formerly of Harmony, NC, died on Monday, April 3, 2017, at his home in Corydon, IN following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Iredell County on October 19, 1945, to the late Clyde Clinton and Marietta Shoemaker Trivette. Larry attended Iredell County Schools until he was enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. After service, he was an over the road truck driver for 30 plus years. He was an owner/operator and drove for Douglas & Sons of Statesville. On August 31, 1996, he married Dottie Higdon Trivette and they made their home in Corydon, IN. Larry became an avid farmer and started driving part time for Barks Welding Supply. Larry loved his family and friends. He loved horseback riding, farming, trucking, working his mules and watching old westerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Richard Shoemaker and Jack Jolly. He is survived by his loving wife Dottie Trivette of 20 years of the home; his son, Brandon Trivette (Shannon) of Lexington, South Carolina; his daughter, Kim Sarles (Jeff) of Greenville, IN; his brother, Charles Trivette of Harmony, NC; two sisters, Lillian Shoemaker and Linda Jolly both of Statesville, NC; four grandchildren, Caylah, and McKenzie Trivette of Lexington, SC, Jonathan and Josh Sarles of IN and two great grandchildren, Collin and Blake Sarles of IN. a number of nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service has been scheduled for May 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Corydon, IN. A celebration of life will be held in Statesville on a later date.
