Larry Little Stroud

April 25, 1940 — March 21, 2015

Mr. Larry Little Stroud, 74, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at his home. Mr. Stroud was born in Iredell County on April 25, 1940, and was the son of the late Robert William Stroud and Ninner Cashion Stroud.  He attended Iredell County Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was married to Betty Cooke Stroud, who preceded him in death. Mr. Stroud was retired owner/operator of Stroud’s Gulf, I Road Shell and was a lifelong member of Southview Baptist Church Mr. Stroud was an Ancient Free and Accepted Mason where he served as two time past Master of Statesville Lodge #27.  He was also a 32o Scottish Rite Mason.  He was an avid gardener, bee keeper, and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Stroud is survived by two daughters, Angie Wood (Jeff) and Sonya Brown (Arthur Ellison) along with four grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob Brown, Peyton Wood, and Brandon “Budro” Brown.   He is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth William Stroud (Ann) and Ed Ray Stroud, all of Statesville. Funeral services for Mr. Stroud will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, March 26, 2015, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Parks and Rev. J.C. Parks officiating.  Burial will follow with full Masonic Rites and military honors provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail in the Iredell Memorial Gardens.  The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Statesville Masonic Lodge #27.  Memorials may be made to the Larry Stroud Memorial Fund, c/o Angie Wood, 135 E. Front Street, Statesville, NC 28677 or to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
