Larry Allen Sharpe

June 3, 1934 — March 11, 2017

After a period of declining health, Allen Sharpe quietly passed from this life to his Eternal Home on March 11, 2017 at Autumn Care with his wife by his side. Allen was born and raised in Statesville on June 3, 1934 to Robert T. Sharpe and Annie Brown Sharpe.  As a teenager, he enjoyed most his jobs at the Playhouse and State Theaters.  He graduated from Scotts High School in 1953, having enjoyed participating in baseball and football.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years.  He last worked for a number of years at F & F Builders. In 1956, he married Jeanne Crowson whom he met at a high school picnic.  On July 14th they would have been married 61 years.  Allen is also survived by a sister, Helen McAllister; four nieces; and a number of great nieces and nephews.  He was much loved by his family and will be greatly missed. Allen and Jeanne attended Parkway Chapel in Winston Salem for approximately 35 years.  In recent years, they attended New Amity ARP Church in Scotts as health permitted. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Earl Linderman officiating.  The family will visit with friends following the service. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.nicholsonfunerals.com and Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family.
