THOMASVILLE-Beloved son and brother Larry Wayne Draughn passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2021, at his residence in Thomasville. Larry was born June 13, 1983, in Thomasville, NC to Wayne Hal and the late Debbie Curry Draughn. He was a 2001 graduate of East Davidson High School. He received his Associates Degree from Davidson County Community College. He worked in the furniture industry. Larry was known for his respectful and polite manner of life, even teaching it to young people. He chose to respect other's opinions rather than debate with them and was a "gentle giant". Larry was an avid sports fan and loved Wake Forest University. He loved to cook and was an animal lover of all kinds. Mr. Draughn's mother Debbie Curry Draughn passed away in February of 2021. Left to cherish the memories of Larry are his father Wayne Hal Draughn of Thomasville, sister Shannon Draughn Craver (Travis) of Myrtle Beach, SC, brother David "DJ" Draughn (Crystal) of Winston Salem. Godfather Dean Wall of Thomasville, honorary brother Jimmy Proffitt of Thomasville, and nieces Cali of Winston Salem and Jacie of Thomasville and nephews, Levi (Autumn) of Thomasville, Avery of Myrtle Beach, SC and Braxton of Thomasville and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Larry was proceeded in death by his Mother, Debbie Draughn, Grandparents Ruby and Charles Curry, Grandparents Allen and Vernell Key, Aunt Vickie Parrish and beloved fur companion Max. The family will receive friends and family at Larry's father's house (7 Jones Avenue, Thomasville) on Friday July 30, 2021, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Johnsontown United Methodist Church (1057 Johnsontown Rd) in Thomasville, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Youth Unlimited, Inc. (338 Burton Avenue, High Point, NC 27262) or the Davidson County Animal Shelter (490 Glendale Road, Lexington, NC 27292).
