Doug Hopkins, age 65, of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem. Born on June 28, 1957, in Davidson County, he was the son of JoAnne Flippin Hopkins and the late Larry Douglas Hopkins, Sr.
Doug had liked cooking and truly enjoyed talking about it. He loved the beach, especially The Outer Banks. Doug was a “big History buff” who loved watching action movies, NASCAR, and Michael Jordan playing basketball. Doug was a loving and devoted family man; he cherished spending every moment with his family. His family would describe Doug as a “big time jokester.”
In addition to his father, Larry Douglas Hopkins, Sr., he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Berrier, whom he spent a lot of time together with, especially when it came to racing; and his son-in-law, Cody Hardin.
Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 49 years, Robin Berrier Hopkins; his daughter, Shannon Hardin; grandchildren, Natalie Hardin, and Aubree Hardin; sister, Cindy Hardin; and his mother-in-law, Peggy Berrier, whom they shared a special love for each other, and she treated him like he was her own son.
