John Kenneth Morrow, 88, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, June 24, 2013 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Morrow was born November 14, 1924 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Samuel McMurrey Morrow and Lillie Eller Morrow. He was a graduate of Sharon High School in Iredell County and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church and was first employed by Duke Power, later worked for Statesville Foundry and retired from Bernhardt Furniture Industries. He enjoyed reading and was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He is survived by one son, William Joseph Morrow (Cindy) of Rocky Mount, NC, three grandchildren, Bette McNee (Todd) of Richboro, PA, Cammie Hatley (Darryl) of Casar, NC, J. Kelly Morrow (Lindsey) of Matthews, NC, seven great grandchildren, one step-son, Herbert Perry Campbell (Patricia) of Statesville, two step-grandchildren, Shannon P. Campbell and Christa Rose Deal (Craig) all of Statesville, three great step-grandchildren, one brother, Harold "Pete" Morrow of Statesville, one sister, Treva M. Wooten (Neal) of Statesville along with cousin/ caregivers and special friends, Pamela and Paul Messick. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morrow was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Pounders Campbell Morrow, one brother, Guy C. Morrow, one sister, Carmen M. Hollar and one sister-in-law, Shirley Reavis Morrow. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at New Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at New Bethany Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to New Bethany Baptist Church, 106 Eufola Rd., Statesville, NC 28677.
