Kathleen (Darr) White

Mrs. Kathleen (Shug) Darr White, 81, of Statesville passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  Mrs. White, affectionately known as Shug, was born in Iredell County on October 7, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Troy Price Darr and Blanche Benfield Darr.  She attended Iredell County schools and on June 27, 1964, she married Jackie Edward White, and together they shared 52 years of marriage until her death.  She was a member of Landmark Church of God.   Shug loved children and provided child care in her home for several years.  She enjoyed every minute with her “children”. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Paul Lynn Darr and two sisters, Frances Darr Ollis and Lillie Mae Darr Mason. In addition to her husband, Shug is survived by the love of her life, her son, Keith White (Kim) of Brown Summit, NC.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, Joseph Johnson of Brown Summit and Erin Barnes of Reidsville, NC along with a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Kathleen White will be conducted 4 PM Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Landmark Church of God with Bishop Ken Hudson officiating.  The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will be held at 11 am Friday, July 8, 2016, in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
