Katherine “Kitty” Luvisa White-Spunner White, 70, of Statesville, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born July 27, 1946 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Ellis White-Spunner and Rachel Griffin White-Spunner. She was also preceded in death by a brother, David White-Spunner. Kitty attended the University of Alabama and Mississippi State College for Women. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she had served as the President of the Turnipseed Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Wesley Memorial Fellowship Circle. Kitty loved gardening, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano, and reading. On May 16, 2001, Kitty married Benny Shaver White, who survives. She is also survived by 3 daughters, Kelly Niles of New York, Sonja Stattman of Australia, Diane McCahill of Ohio, 2 sisters, Nancy McGinnis (David) of Charlotte, Joan Dixon (John) of Mobile, Alabama, and 7 grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Mrs. White will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Clanton officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pregnancy Resource Center of Statesville, NC, 125 N.
