Katherine Sain

Mary Katherine Johnson Sain, 83, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Sain was born October 25, 1927, in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late John Loma Johnson, Sr. and Nora Blevins Johnson. Mrs. Sain was a graduate of Wilkes County Schools and she was married to Clarence Allen Sain, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Sain was retired from Hunt Pen after 25 years of service and she was a member of Faith Baptist Church in which she was very involved. Mrs. Sain was a very family oriented woman, loved to cook for her family, and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed her yard full of beautiful flowers. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sain was also preceded in death by a niece, Patricia (Patti) Kerley. Mrs. Sain is survived by one sister, Polly Johnson Kerley of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother, John Loma Johnson, Jr. and wife Anne; four nephews, Glen Alan "Pete" Kerley, Sr. and wife Doni of Statesville, John Kerley and wife Julie of Winston-Salem, Steven Johnson and Julia of Statesville, and Robert Johnson and wife Karen of Columbus, OH. She is further survived by two nieces, Rebecca K. Ross and husband Mike of Cherryville, N.C. and Maxine K. Bowen and husband Stuart of Winston-Salem. Many great-nephews and great-nieces also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
