Mr. Verney Junior Estes, 68, of High Point, N.C. and formerly of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Triad Care & Rehab in High Point following a lengthy illness. Mr. Estes was born October 28, 1943 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Verney Woodrow and Reba Benfield Estes. He attended Iredell County schools and he was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Estes was formerly employed as a furniture framer with Kewanee Scientific prior to being disability retired. In addition to his parents, Mr. Estes was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Woodrow and Tony Lee Estes. He is survived by one brother, Howard Estes (Denise) along with two sisters, Virginia Sigmon (Robert) and Peggy Lowtharpe, all of Statesville. He is also survived by three nephews, Tim DeHart (Michelle), Jamie Estes (Jan), both of Statesville and Thomas Estes of Dallas, N.C. He is further survived by one niece, Tracy Shepherd (Coyet) of Statesville. Funeral services for Junior Estes will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, June 10, 2012 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at
