Judy Mason Waddell, 76, of Statesville, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Waddell was born in Iredell County on March 5, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Johnnie Franklin Mason and Faye Agnes Gryder Mason. She attended Central School and she was a home-maker. Mrs. Waddell was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Waddell was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved doing things for her family and especially loved to cook. She was an exceptional artist. She loved doing oil painting and chalk drawings of landscapes. Mrs. Waddell also enjoyed sewing and doing craft work. She had a passion for her grandchildren and following the death of her daughter Debra Mash, she raised her grandchildren. Mrs. Waddell left a long and memorable impression on her family and they along with all others who knew her will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Mash and three brothers, Benny, Bobby, and Mike Mason.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Harvey Lee Waddell of the home, one daughter, Donna Mason of Statesville, along with three brothers, Walter Mason of Statesville, Charles Mason of Bakersfield, CA, and Tommy Mason (Mary) of Mooresville and two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Dell Church (Wayne), both of Statesville. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Nolan Gray Mash, Christopher Lee Mash, both of Statesville, and Josey Anderson along with one great-grandchild, Jacey Geter, both of Harmony. She is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Funeral services honoring the life of Judy Waddell will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2018 with the Rev. Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
