Sgt. William David "Bill" Miller, Jr., 45, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 8, 2012. William was born September 2, 1966 in Fort Dix, NJ, and was the son of Lieselotte Schubert Miller and the late William David Miller, Sr. Sgt. Miller was a graduate of Willingboro High School of Willingboro, NJ. When he was formerly married to, Cindy Maxey Miller, he became a loving father of two sons. He was currently serving in the U.S. Army as Crew Chief on a Blackhawk helicopter. He had just returned from his second tour of duty in Iraq. In addition to his mother and mother of his children, he is also survived by his two sons, William D. Miller III (Samantha Jung), and Austin J. Miller, both of Statesville. He is also survived by three sisters Sylvia D. Rilying (Carmello Pitrolo), of PA, Patricia E. MacNeil (David MacNeil deceased) and Joann I. Miller, of FL,. He is further survived by a grandson Lukas R. Miller, of Statesville, a nephew Chad A. Rilying (Michele), two nieces Heather Miller, and Josephine S. Miller along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service for Sgt. Miller will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with a United States Army Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery in Alexander County. The family will visit with friends Sunday, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
