J.P. Rector

Jacob Partee "JP" Rector, 81, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014, after a lengthy struggle with heart problems. He was born in Alexander County on November 4, 1932, son of the late Ernest Rector and Bulah Icenhour Rector. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Rumple Rector and step daughter, Janie Christopher along with five brothers and two sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved fianc�e, companion, and caregiver of 17 years, Peggy Mitchell. He is also survived by two sisters, Lois Jean Lovette (Bob) and Mildred Clarke, both of Statesville; step daughter, Peggy Setters Carter (Jimmy) and their children and three sister-in-laws, who encouraged him continually through his illness, Wanda Rector, Peggy Rector, and Sylvia Rector, along with numerous nieces and nephews and close friends, Douglas and Reola Millsaps. J.P. was a hard working man in construction, truck driver, lawn mower repairman, bee keeper, and avid gardener. He was a member of the Bee Keepers Assoc and was former labor foreman for Gilbert Engineering. Graveside funeral services for J.P. will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2014, in Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Matt Emory officiating. The family has requested privacy at the home during this time but will visit with friends from 7:00 until 8:30 pm Monday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home.
