Mrs. Johnsie Aldaine Lee Hartness, 88, of Statesville, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Hartness was born in Iredell County on September 7, 1930 and was the daughter of the late David Eugene Lee and Mary Elizabeth Brawley Lee. She attended Iredell County schools and on April 16, 1954 she married Clarence Ervin Hartness and together they shared 38 years of marriage until his passing on June 25, 1992.
Mrs. Hartness was retired from Orbit Furniture where she worked for 25 plus years. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and attended regularly while her health allowed.
Mrs. Hartness loved reading and music enjoyed watching the Gaither Vocal Band Homecoming videos. She enjoyed any activity that involved being outside. Mrs. Hartness loved her church and her church family but there was a special love that had no comparison and that was the love for her children, grandchildren and her extended family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Borders and a sister, Helen Lee.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Denise H. Cartner (Danny) and Debbie Hartness, one granddaughter, Christina Borders and grandson Ricky Cartner, all of Statesville. She is also survived by her “adopted” daughters, Dinah Purser of Stony Point and Karen Orren Watson of Salisbury.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Jennings officiating. The family will speak with friends following.
