Ms. Johnnie Joetta Alaniz, age 81, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center after having been in declining health for the past few years. She was born on April 30, 1942, in Davidson County, North Carolina but lived the majority of her life in Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Smith and Arlene L. Smith Stokes; her husband, Junior Alaniz; and her son, Clark Byerly. Left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Christina Shoaf, Sylvia Deaton, Jody Brown, and Sherry Swing; seven grandchildren; and her special friend, Carolyn Harris (whom she called her sister from another mother).
No services will be held. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
