John Earl Weibley, 62, of Statesville, NC and formerly of Perry County, Pennsylvania. Beloved Husband, Dad, Pop and Brother, died peacefully in the arms of his wife, Beth, at home on Sunday, July 22, 2012 after an arduous eight year journey with cancer. John was born on October 26, 1949, in Loysville, PA, to the late Stanley J., and Betty M. (Simonton) Weibley. He was a graduate of West Perry High School, Elliottsburg, PA. John retired from the PA Department of Transportation, Harrisburg, PA after 28 years of service. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen James of Loysville, PA. John is cherished by his best friend and wife of 29 years, Elizabeth L. (Dobbs); son Gregory H. (Laura), grandson Henry Jack and granddaughter Margot Grace of Boston, MA; son Deron A. of Duncannon, PA and son Andrew J. at home. He is also survived by brother William A. (Dolores) of Loysville, PA; sister Cathy E. Scordo (Paul) of Shermansdale, PA and sister Carol J. Shull (Norman) of Landisburg, PA. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. John found that God always placed him and surrounded him with the people he needed at the various crossroads of his life. His life was blessed with the love of the Countryside Baptist Church, Harmony, NC where he was currently attending. John was a teacher of the High School Sunday School class. Upon the family's arrival to North Carolina six years ago and continuing still is the love and friendship of the family of Faith Baptist Church, Statesville, NC. The unending prayers, support and love of these church families has been a constant that has cradled the entire family. Both congregations and their Pastors played an essential role in his faith walk . The family would like to thank Dr. Pam Sholar and her staff for their loving care and also the staff of the Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County for their compassion and support. John knew he was never alone and was always humbled by the love and kindness shown to him by so many. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E Front Street, Statesville, NC. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 10:00am and the Memorial Service to begin at 11:00am and Pastor Randy Goodin officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the service at The Historic Sharpe House, 402 South Center Street, Statesville, NC. There will be no graveside services. There is a Celebration of Life Memorial Service planned for 1:00pm on August 4, 2012 at the Cornerstone Christian Church, Duncannon, PA. Interment services will be held at the Restland Cemetery, Loysville, PA at the convenience of the family.
