John Owens, age 83, of Summerfield, NC, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, at his home. Born on March 22, 1939, in High Point, he was the son of the late John Robert Owens and Josie Fain Owens.
John had a passion for music and enjoyed all kinds. He was one of the founding members of the Moon Mullins & The Night Raiders, which later became Mickey Hawks & The Night Raiders. He loved to go "yard-selling" and enjoyed traveling and working in his yard. John and his family attended Liberty Wesleyan Church in Summerfield.
In addition to his parents, John Robert and Josie Fain Owens, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Patricia Friddle Owens; his grandson, Nolan Grayson Goodman; his siblings, Della Hammer, Etta Bray, John Robert Owens, Jr., Elmer Owens, Earlene Elks, and Mildred Hemrick; and his son-in-law, Ronnie Kellam.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Janet Kellam, Melissa Bolen, and Tony Owens; his grandchildren, Shannon Kellam, Tyler Owens, Crystal Pass (Brandon), Seth Hyatt (Amber), Mackenzie Owens, and Hannah Owens; great-grandchildren, Jordan Cain, Austin Cain, Riley Goodman, Bentley Goodman, and Kaymon Kellam; his "bonus grandson," Jaden Tesh; his sisters, Dot McDowell, and Ruth Burleson (Glenn); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Liberty Wesleyan Church, 15303 US Highway 158, Summerfield, NC with Pastor Danny Janes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
