Mr. John Albert Miller, 74, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 1, 1944 in Iredell County to the late Wilbern Henry Miller and Frankie Leigh Miller. John was a devoted Christian and attended Union Grove Christian Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher. He was a retired shipping clerk. He enjoyed sharing the Word Of God, playing golf and spending time with his family. He also taught the good news club at Union Grove Elementary Church. He served four years in the U.S. Army in Korea and Viet Nam as a clerk for the intelligence department under the staff of General Westmoreland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: J.D. (Novella) Miller and Henry Jr. Miller.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 33 years, Gradie Leigh Miller, daughters: Kimberly West (Ricky) and Gina Montaigne (Joseph) and a son, Corey Gentry. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Austin and Laura West, Leighann Montaigne (Tate) and Jolie Montaigne along with two great grandchildren: Paige Olivia and Brantley Tate. Additional survivors include a sister, Sue Thompson (Jim), a brother, Steve (Superman) Miller and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved and cared about dearly.The Miller family would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at the Gordon Hospice House for their love and wonderful care.
Services celebrating Mr. Miller’s life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 30, 2019 at Union Grove Christian Church with Rev. Allen Lunsford officiating. He will lie in state and the family will greet friends from 1:30 until 2:00 prior to the service. The family will also receive friends Thursday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites presented by the North Iredell American Legion Post # 113 Burial Detail.
